Baseball Recap: Mishawaka Marian Takes a Loss

Mishawaka Marian extended their losing streak to six on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 7-12 in the process. They lost 7-0 to the Elkhart Lions. The Knights were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Lions apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

As for Elkhart, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 12-8. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by seven runs or more this season.

For Elkhart's part, Quinn Rost was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. What's more, Rost posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.

In other batting news, Max Shreiner was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mishawaka Marian will be taking part in a tournament against Lake Central at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Indians' pitching crew has only allowed three runs per game this season, so the Knights' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Elkhart, they will venture away from home to face off against Mishawaka at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
