Softball Recap: Danbury Picks Up Eighth Consecutive Victory

Danbury waltzed into their game on Tuesday with seven straight wins... but they left with eight. They put the hurt on the Greenwich Cardinals with a sharp 12-1 win. That's more bragging rights for the Hatters, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Abigail O'Dell spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on one hit.

On the hitting side, Danbury got a massive performance out of Sophie O'Connell, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Analia Duran was another key player, going 4-for-5 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

Danbury's record is now 13-4. As for Greenwich, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-10.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Danbury will square off against rival Darien at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Hatters 3.7, the Blue Wave 0.9) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Greenwich is set to face off against their familiar foe Stamford at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
