Baseball Game Preview: Palisades Pumas vs. Covenant Day Lions

The Palisades Pumas will take on the Covenant Day Lions in a tournament on Monday. Palisades is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.9 runs per game this season.

Palisades is headed into the game having just suffered their closest loss since February 29, 2024 on Saturday. They fell just short of Charlotte S by a score of 4-2.

Palisades got a good showing from Patrick Bankos, who pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

On the hitting side, Palisades saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Patrick Beam, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Another was Max Wearing, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Covenant Day's offense. They fell just short of Charlotte Latin by a score of 1-0 on Friday. The match marked the first time this season in which the Lions were not able to get on the board.

Grant Gardner was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out ten batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit (and only one walk). He has been consistent : he hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts any time he's pitched this season.

Palisades now has a losing record of 9-10. As for Covenant Day, their defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-3.
