Softball Recap: Bessemer City Wins Going Away Against Holy Family Catholic

Bessemer City never let their opponents score on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Holy Family Catholic Tornadoes as the Bessemer City Tigers made off with a 17-0 victory. That looming 17-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Tigers yet this season.

Whitley Phillips made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Phillips was even better at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing Six bases. while getting on base in both of her plate appearances. Phillips is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least two every time she's taken the field this season.

In other batting news, Kadee Lanier was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing Six bases. while getting on base in both of her plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Dameria Freeman, who scored two runs and stole Five bases. while getting on base in both of her plate appearances.

Bessemer City always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of 1.000. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .500 or higher in three consecutive matchups.

Bessemer City's win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Holy Family Catholic, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-3.
