Softball Recap: Meridian Hawks vs. Central A & M Raiders

There's no place like home for Meridian, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Central A & M Raiders by a score of 10-5 on Wednesday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Hawks needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.

Ashley Schelling made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one double and one RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Julia Meisenhelter, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and four RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024. Hayley Hanson was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and one triple.

Meridian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Central A & M only posted a batting average of .276.
