Baseball Recap: Perry Central Triumphs

Perry Central proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by ten) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 15-14 win over the Hattiesburg Tigers. This was payback for the Bulldogs, who suffered a 10-8 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Kameron Moody was incredible, going 3-for-4 with four runs, four RBI, and two doubles. He is becoming a predictor of Perry Central's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 7-1 (and 4-9 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Dawson Little, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.

Perry Central now has a winning record of 11-10. As for Hattiesburg, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-11.

Coming up, Perry Central will venture away from home to take on East Marion at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Eagles have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14.47 runs per game on average), something the Bulldogs will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Hattiesburg, they will square off against West Jones at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Mustangs' pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so the Tigers' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
