Football Recap: Summit Christian Academy Comes Up Short

Summit Christian Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat dating back to last season. They took a blow against Regent Prep, falling 57-6. The Eagles lost against Regent Prep in their previous head to head back in September of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 42-21 score last time.

Even if they lost, Summit Christian Academy's defensive line still kept up the pressure with three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Andrew Hackler, Ethan Oglesbee, and Broderick Brown, who each picked up one sack apiece.

Regent Prep's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Brody Smith, who threw for 288 yards and four TDs while completing 92.3% of his passes. The team also got some help courtesy of Cai Brookover, who rushed for 95 yards on only eight carries.

Summit Christian Academy's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Regent Prep, they pushed their record up to 2-0 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Summit Christian Academy will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Hominy at 7:00 p.m. on the 26th. The game will give the Eagles their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Regent Prep, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next match, a 43-21 loss against Morrison on the 19th.
