Recap: Watersprings vs. Varsity Opponent
Watersprings's six-game losing streak came to an end on Thursday. They breezed by Varsity Opponent at home to the tune of 42-15. Watersprings has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six games by 27 points or more this season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Watersprings to victory, but perhaps none more so than Libby Grijalva, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 rebounds. That's the first time this season that Grijalva scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaitlyn Syverson, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds.
Watersprings' win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-13. As for Varsity Opponent, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 100-350 record this season.
Watersprings does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Varsity Opponent won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Calvary Academy at 4:00 p.m. on January 26th. Calvary Academy is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.
