Soccer Game Preview: Mount Vernon vs. Lewis

The Mount Vernon Majors will head out to challenge the Lewis Lancers at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Mount Vernon has given up an average of 3.4 goals per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Mount Vernon came into their game two weeks ago off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 7-2 to Oakton. While losing is never fun, Mount Vernon can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia soccer rankings (they are ranked 200th, while Oakton are ranked 100th).

Meanwhile, Lewis didn't have quite enough to beat Lake Braddock on Monday and fell 2-1.

Mount Vernon's defeat dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Lewis, their loss dropped their record down to 4-3-2.

Mount Vernon might still be hurting after the 3-0 defeat they got from Lewis in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Majors avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
