Basketball Recap: First Baptist's Victory on Saturday Extends Winning Streak to Eight

First Baptist extended their winning streak to eight games thanks to a huge performance from Lydia Wynja. The First Baptist Crusaders enjoyed a cozy 52-36 win over the Des Moines HomeSchool W Warriors on Saturday thanks in part to Wynja, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 22 boards. That makes it nine consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of First Baptist's points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Jada McKinney, who posted eight points and five rebounds. What's more, she also racked up two blocks, the most she's had since back in November of 2024.

First Baptist has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 14 of their last 15 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 17-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 25.5 points per game. As for Des Moines HomeSchool W, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-3.

First Baptist will welcome Rochester Area HomeSchool at 6:15 p.m. on Monday. First Baptist's defense has only allowed 27.4 points per game this season, so Rochester Area HomeSchool's offense will have their work cut out for them. Des Moines HomeSchool W does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
