Volleyball Recap: Athens Comes Up Short + How To Watch

If Athens was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Wellston on Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Bulldogs took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Chillicothe Cavaliers on Saturday. The Bulldogs were not able to make up for their defeat to the Cavaliers from their previous meeting back in August of 2019.

The match finished with set scores of 25-16, 21-25, 25-23, 25-23.

Despite the loss, Athens still got an impressive performance from Grace Inboden, who had 21 digs and three aces. Inboden has been hot, having posted 14 or more digs the last six times she's played.

Athens' loss dropped their record down to 13-5. As for Chillicothe, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-6 record this season.

Athens will head out to challenge Nelsonville-York at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Chillicothe, they have already played their next contest, a 3-1 defeat against Logan Elm on the 29th.
