Baseball Recap: Lawrence Upper Lions vs. Mentor Christian
Lawrence Upper lost a close one when they played last Thursday but unfortunately for them the defeat they were handed on Monday was a bit more commanding. They fell victim to a tough 11-2 loss at the hands of Mentor Christian. Lawrence Upper was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Mentor Christian apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2023.
Lawrence Upper saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hunter James, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.
On Mentor Christian's side, Nate Duryea was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. Duryea was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Carmen Trivisonno, who went 3-for-3 with a home run, four stolen bases, and three runs. Another player making a difference was Cohen Hurst, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and a triple.
