Preview: LaSalle Royal Lions vs. St. Brendan Sabres
LaSalle has been on the road for two straight, but on Friday they'll finally head home. They will take on The St. Brendan Sabres at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, LaSalle beat Jackson 30-18.
LaSalle's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Stetsen Angelo, who threw for 212 yards and three touchdowns while completing 72.7% of his passes. The team also got some help courtesy of Joel Salien, who picked up 119 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, everything came up roses for St. Brendan on the road against Westland Hialeah on Friday as the squad secured a 34-6 victory. The result was nothing new for St. Brendan, who have now won three contests by 28 points or more so far this season.
St. Brendan found their leader in underclassman Geovanni Tobon, who rushed for 189 yards and a touchdown on only 12 carries. Tobon's longest rush was for an incredible 89 yards. Another player making a difference was Terrell Franklin, who rushed for 61 yards and two touchdowns.
LaSalle's win was their third straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 4-3. Admittedly, the team didn't face the toughest opposition across those games, namely Jackson, Westminster Christian, and Somerset Academy. St. Brendan is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season.
Everything came up roses for LaSalle against St. Brendan in their previous meeting back in September of 2021 as the team secured a 35-0 victory. Does LaSalle have another victory up their sleeve, or will St. Brendan turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
