Softball Game Preview: Warren Township Blue Devils vs. Grayslake Central Rams

The Warren Township Blue Devils are taking a road trip to face off against the Grayslake Central Rams at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.

Grayslake Central will be up against a hot Warren Township team: the squad just extended their winning streak to five. The Blue Devils never let Zion-Benton get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory on Wednesday. The result was nothing new for the Blue Devils, who have now won ten matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Grayslake Central not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since March 17th (when they won 22-5). They were the clear victors by an 18-1 margin over Round Lake.

Evie Evert looked comfortable as she tossed two innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. What's more, she posted five strikeouts, the most she's had since back in April.

On the hitting side, Grayslake Central got a massive performance out of Cameron Marshall, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, one run, and one double. Those four RBI gave Marshall a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Angela Ayala, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Grayslake Central was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .462. They are 6-3 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Warren Township pushed their record up to 14-5 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.8 runs over those games. As for Grayslake Central, the win got them back to even at 9-9.

Warren Township came out on top in a nail-biter against Grayslake Central when the teams last played back in April of 2017, sneaking past 8-6. Do the Blue Devils have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Rams turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
