Basketball Recap: Destiny Christian Comes Up Short

Destiny Christian was the 59-51 winner over Crooked Oak when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Destiny Christian Wildcats took a blow against the Crooked Oak Ruf-Nex on Tuesday, falling 64-37. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma basketball rankings (they are ranked 143rd, while the Ruf-Nex are ranked 22nd).

Crooked Oak's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Elijah Garcia, who went 6-for-15 on his way to 15 points and seven steals. The dominant performance gave Garcia a new career-high in steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jamel Morris, who went 6-for-13 to rack up 15 points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals.

Destiny Christian is on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-13. As for Crooked Oak, they have been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 14 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 18-5 record this season.

Destiny Christian has already played their next game, a 67-16 victory against Varsity Opponent on the 13th. As for Crooked Oak, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, an 80-67 win against Harding Prep on the 13th.
