Baseball Game Preview: Randle Lions vs. Weiss Wolves

The Randle Lions will take on the Weiss Wolves at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Randle comes in on five and Weiss on ten.

Randle is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They blew past Carnegie Vanguard 13-2. Randle's win was all the more impressive since the Rhinos were averaging only 3.11 runs allowed on the season.

Jasen Gutierrez tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out ten over 4.1 innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Randle let Jaeden Humphrey and Cristian Elizondo run wild. Humphrey went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI, while Elizondo went a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. Those three hits gave Elizondo a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Sean Wilson, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.

Randle always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .556. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .500 or higher in three consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last game, Weiss made sure to put some runs up on the board against Bastrop on Saturday. The Wolves were the clear victors by a 10-3 margin over the Bears. Considering the Wolves have won 11 contests by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Randle's record now sits at 18-12-3. As for Weiss, their record is now 20-6-2.
