Basketball Game Preview: Durant Cougars vs. Sickles Gryphons + How To Watch

Having just played yesterday, the Durant Cougars will head out on the road to face off against the Sickles Gryphons at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Durant made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Newsome, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Cougars fell just short of the Wolves by a score of 64-62 on Tuesday. The Cougars have struggled against the Wolves recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Nathan Moore, who almost dropped a double-double with 23 points and nine boards. Durant is 2-1 when Moore posts 15 or more points, but 0-4 otherwise. Banner Howton was another key player, going 6-for-10 on his way to 17 points.

Meanwhile, Sickles had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 21 points) and they went ahead and made it four on Tuesday. They strolled past the Falcons with points to spare, taking the game 71-55. The Gryphons pushed the score to 51-31 by the end of the third, a deficit the Falcons cut but never quite recovered from.

Sickles' win bumped their record up to 9-1. As for Durant, their loss dropped their record down to 2-5.

Durant was taken down by Sickles 88-50 when the teams last played back in January. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of the Gryphons' Chase Weismiller, who shot 62% from the field to rack up 23 points. Now that the Cougars know the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
