Volleyball Recap: Millennium Takes Down Ranked Desert Vista

Millennium faced Desert Vista in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Tigers came out on top in a nail-biter against the Thunder, sneaking past 3-2. The victory was nothing new for the Tigers as they're now sitting on three straight.

Millennium took Desert Vista into a fifth set where they got it done with a eight-point win. The match finished with set scores of 23-25, 25-17, 23-25, 25-20, 15-7.

Millennium found their leader in freshman Kaitlyn Freeman, who had 11 digs and four aces. Those 11 digs set a new season-high mark for Freeman. JJ Tauala also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

Millennium was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 18 aces. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their ace total in three consecutive matches.

Millennium's win bumped their record up to 9-6. As for Desert Vista, with the loss, they broke their three-match winning streak and moved their record to 14-10.

Millennium has already played their next contest, a 2-0 defeat against Fossil Ridge on the 26th. As for Desert Vista, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-0 loss against Xavier College Prep on the 25th.
