Softball Game Preview: Statesville Greyhounds vs. East Lincoln Mustangs

Statesville hasn't had much luck against East Lincoln recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Greyhounds will head out to take on the Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. Statesville has given up an average of 19.6 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Statesville is headed into Monday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 31st straight game dating back to last season on Tuesday. They came up short against North Lincoln, falling 19-1.

Meanwhile, East Lincoln came tearing into Friday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against the Warriors as they made off with a 13-2 win.

Taniyah Thomas was incredible, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played.

Statesville's loss dropped their record down to 0-17. As for East Lincoln, their victory bumped their record up to 11-5.

Statesville suffered a grim 18-0 defeat to East Lincoln when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Greyhounds avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
