Baseball Recap: West Branch Wins Going Away Against Bucktail

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Mount Union, West Branch was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They blew past the Bucktail Bucks 13-4. The high-scoring effort was just what the Warriors needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.

West Branch let Coby Kephart and Kaleb Warren-Kio run wild. Kephart went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Warren-Kio went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Kephart has become a key player for West Branch: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 2-3 otherwise. Logan Liptak was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: West Branch kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

West Branch is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. As for Bucktail, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7.
