Softball Preview: St. Joseph Knights vs. Templeton Eagles

The St. Joseph Knights will head out to square off against the Templeton Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. St. Joseph will be looking to extend their current nine-game winning streak.

On Friday, St. Joseph earned a 10-6 victory over Mission College Prep.

St. Joseph got a great performance from Khandi Rodriguez as she pitched six innings while giving up four earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits.

On the hitting side, Emily Cervantes was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and one triple. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Vienn Bowker was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs.

Templeton let Lompoc stack six runs on them in the sixth inning on Friday but luckily Templeton prevailed anyway. The Eagles had just enough and edged out the Braves 10-8. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Eagles have posted against the Braves since March 12, 2022.

The team relied heavily on Emma Kriling, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ella Acosta, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one double.

St. Joseph's record is now 22-3-1. As for Templeton, they picked up their first road victory, bumping their record up to 5-19-1.

St. Joseph got the 'W' in their previous meeting back in April against Templeton by a conclusive 12-2 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Knights since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
