Softball Preview: Jackson Jaguars vs. Pace Academy Knights
The Jackson Jaguars will venture away from home to take on the Pace Academy Knights at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
Jackson is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 18 runs on Wednesday, they were much more limited against Creekside on Thursday. They lost 20-2 to the Seminoles. The Jaguars haven't had much luck with the Seminoles recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Meanwhile, Pace Academy had already won eight in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14.4 runs) and they went ahead and made it nine on Monday. Megan Wrigley made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits (and only one walk). She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing four bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Amelit Hall, who scored three runs while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Katie Wrigley, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and a triple.
The loss snapped Jackson's winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 8-4 record. As for Pace Academy, their win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-4.
