Baseball Recap: Helix Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Helix entered their tilt with El Capitan on Thursday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They came out on top against the Vaqueros by a score of 4-1. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 3-1 on Tuesday.

Sean Sherrod spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on two hits and racked up seven Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Antoin Simpson, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. Helix is undefeated when Simpson posts one or more home runs, but 7-9 otherwise. Jake Johnson was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run.

They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Helix lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. They are 3-1 when they post two or more home runs.

Helix now has a winning record of 10-9. As for El Capitan, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-11.
