Basketball Recap: Airline Vikings vs. Captain Shreve Gators
Even though the Airline Vikings have not done well against the Captain Shreve Gators recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Airline pulled ahead with a 55-54 photo finish over the Gators. The victory was nothing new for Airline as they're now sitting on three straight.
Captain Shreve's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mar?Kedrion King, who scored 14 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points King has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jyrin Sowell, who scored 13 points.
Airline has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 16-10 record this season. As for Captain Shreve, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 21-5.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Airline will take on the Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Parkway is no doubt hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses. As for Captain Shreve, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against the Cowboys at 7:30 p.m. on January 31st. Southwood is coming into the match hot, having won their last four games.
