The Springville Red Devils will face off against the Skyline Eagles at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
As a matter of fact, Springville put up the most points they have all season on Friday. They never let Jordan get on the board and left with a 22-0 victory. The Red Devils might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matches by six runs or more this season.
Springville got a massive performance out of Ka'Ila Sermersheim, who went 1-for-2 with four RBI and two runs. Another player making a difference was Kalia Sjoberg, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2.
Sermersheim wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Springville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. Springville is a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Skyline was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 15-14 heartbreaker at the hands of Canyon View. Even though they lost, the Eagles' still made a splash at the plate and bumped their average scoring up to 7 runs per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).
Addison Henninger and Sophie Dorval did some serious damage despite the final result: Henninger went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base, while Dorval went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, one triple, and one run. Those four RBI gave Dorval a new career-high. Isabelle Rupp was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while going 3-for-3.
Springville has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 13.3 runs. Skyline's loss dropped their record down to 1-6.
Skyline's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Springville has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 11.7 hits per game. It's a different story for Skyline, though, as they've been averaging 9.6 hits. Given Springville's sizable advantage in that area, Skyline will need to find a way to close that gap.
