Basketball Game Preview: Green River Pirates vs. Caprock Academy Eagles

The Green River Pirates will square off against the Caprock Academy Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Green River's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last 15 matchups.

Green River is headed into the game after thoroughly thrashing Monument Valley: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Green River blew Monument Valley out of the water with a 101-20 final score. The Pirates have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 13 contests by 24 points or more this season.

It was another big night for Jason Hernandez, who dropped a double-double with 35 points and 11 assists. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in assists. Another player making a difference was Antonio Macias, who almost dropped a triple-double with 18 points, nine boards, and nine assists.

Hernandez wasn't the only one working in the assist department: Green River was working as a unit and finished the game with 33 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Caprock Academy played a tough match on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt a 62-29 defeat at the hands of Plateau Valley. The game marked the Eagles' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Green River's win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-5. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 35 points. As for Caprock Academy, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine matches, which has put a noticeable dent in their 7-13 record this season.
