Baseball Game Preview: Berthoud Spartans vs. Mountain View Mountain Lions

For the second straight game, Berthoud will face off against Mountain View. The Spartans will head out to square off against the Mountain Lions at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.

Berthoud was handed a eight-run loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Saturday. They had just enough and edged out Mountain View 4-2.

Wyatt Barmes spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on two hits and racked up 14 Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Berthoud secured the win behind a pair of hitters. One of them was Elisha Mosher, who went 1-for-2 with one run.

Berthoud is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-10 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.5 runs over those games. As for Mountain View, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-12.
