Basketball Recap: Spring Valley Comes Up Short

Spring Valley suffered their biggest defeat since December 20, 2024 on Friday. They took a blow against the Dutch Fork Silver Foxes, falling 76-47. The loss continues a trend for the Vikings in their meetings with the Silver Foxes: they've now lost six in a row.

Despite the defeat, Spring Valley saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Zy'Keyia Halley went 5-for-8 to rack up 14 points. Another player making a difference was Destiny Simmons, who posted ten points.

Spring Valley's loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Dutch Fork, they pushed their record up to 7-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Spring Valley will take on Richland Northeast in a holiday battle at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Dutch Fork and A.C. Flora will compete for holiday cheer at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
