Recap: Sumner Stingrays vs. Newsome Wolves
It was a good run, but the Sumner Stingrays unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They fell to Newsome 44-38. Sumner has struggled against Newsome recently, as their matchup on Friday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, Sumner had strong showings from Devin Baker, who scored 13 points along with 5 rebounds, and Isaiah Williams, who scored 9 points along with 7 rebounds and 3 steals. Williams is absolutely dominating the block category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Karsten Walker, who scored 6 points along with 7 rebounds.
Sumner's loss dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Newsome, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 3-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sumner's road trip will continue as they head out to face Middleton at 6:30 p.m. on December 11th. Middleton will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 581st, while Sumner is ranked 207th). As for Newsome, they will head out on the road to face off against Brandon at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Brandon is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
