Basketball Game Preview: Decatur Community Red Devils vs. Quinter Bulldogs

The Decatur Community Red Devils will head out to square off against the Quinter Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.

Last Tuesday, Decatur Community didn't have quite enough to beat Norton and fell 28-26. The defeat continues a trend for the Red Devils in their matchups with the Bluejays: they've now lost three in a row.

The losing side was boosted by Brylee Minnick, who almost dropped a double-double with ten points and nine rebounds. Another player making a difference was Jenna Fortin, who posted six points and six boards.

Meanwhile, Quinter had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 29.8 points) and they went ahead and made it five on Monday. They breezed past the Golden Eagles to the tune of 67-26. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 38-12.

Quinter's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-3. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 26.3 points over those games. As for Decatur Community, their loss dropped their record down to 10-8.

Decatur Community came up short against Quinter in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, falling 62-52. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Quinter's Bryn Gillespie, who went 5-for-12 on her way to 24 points in addition to seven rebounds and five steals.
