Basketball Recap: Enloe Comes Up Short

Enloe was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their 20th straight defeat. They were a single point away from ending the streak, but they lost a 33-32 heartbreaker at the hands of the Sanderson Spartans. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Spartans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 45-26 last Tuesday.

Sanderson's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Abby Stephens led the charge by putting up 11 points and three steals. That's the most points Stephens has posted since back in December of 2024. Stella Puckett was another key player, scoring nine points.

Enloe's loss dropped their record down to 1-21. As for Sanderson, their win ended an 11-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-18.

Enloe and Sanderson could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings. Enloe (ranked 541st) will meet Broughton (ranked 198th) at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Sanderson will challenge Leesville Road at 6:00 p.m. on Friday down 424 places (533 vs. 109).
