Baseball Recap: Milan Victorious

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Canton, Milan was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Northwest Mounties, sneaking past 9-8. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Big Reds as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Cameron Dessellier was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has become a key player for Milan: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most one hit, but 13-19 otherwise. Dessellier was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Aiden Steinke, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Milan's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is undefeated (and 12-20 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Scottie Brewer, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.

Milan's victory bumped their record up to 15-20. As for Northwest, their loss was their sixth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 4-10.

As of now, neither Milan nor the Mounties have any future games scheduled.
