Preview: Marmaton Valley Wildcats vs. Iola Mustangs
The Marmaton Valley Wildcats will head out on the road to challenge the Iola Mustangs at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday. Marmaton Valley will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Kansas Rankings (they are ranked 294th, while Iola is ranked 143rd).
Last Tuesday, Marmaton Valley didn't have too much trouble with Cherryvale on the road as they won 52-38.
Iola posted their biggest victory yet this season on Tuesday. They claimed a resounding 68-31 victory over St. Paul at home. The victory was just what Iola needed coming off of a 73-46 loss in their prior game.
Landon Weide continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 19 points along with seven assists and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Mac Leonard, who scored 14 points along with two steals.
Marmaton Valley's record now sits at 4-5. Iola's record now sits at 6-4.
Marmaton Valley was dealt a bruising 85-15 loss at the hands of Iola in their previous meeting back in January of 2021. The matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Marmaton Valley was down 46-4.
