Football Recap: ABF Academy Comes Up Short

After flying high against First Baptist Academy last Friday, ABF Academy came back down to earth. The Cowboys came up short against the Archbishop Carroll Bulldogs on Friday, falling 48-22. The Cowboys were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 28-8.

Jerquan Eaton threw for 182 yards and one touchdown while completing 83.3% of his passes. Aviyon Darien was his top target, picking up 185 receiving yards and a pair of TDs. On the ground, Terence Pratt rushed for 53 yards.

Archbishop Carroll's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Justin Matias, who rushed for 111 yards and one score. Matias is crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 111 every time he's taken the field this season. William Secola was another key rusher, rushing for 113 yards.

ABF Academy's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Archbishop Carroll, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 3-0-1.

ABF Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Inlet Grove at 6:00 p.m. on October 3. As for Archbishop Carroll, they will take on True North Classical Academy at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 868 yards in their previous games.
