Volleyball Game Preview: Swampscott Big Blue vs. Gloucester Fishermen

The Swampscott Big Blue will take on the Gloucester Fishermen at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Gloucester took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Swampscott, who comes in off a win.

While Swampscott's win against Salem wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Big Blue sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over the Witches on Wednesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Big Blue have posted since November 1, 2024.

Swampscott took Salem into a fifth set where they got it done with a four-point win. The final score came out to 25-22, 25-18, 26-28, 23-25, 15-11.

Meanwhile, Gloucester lost 3-0 to KIPP Academy Lynn Collegiate on Tuesday.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-11, 25-19, 25-19.

Gloucester's defeat dropped their record down to 0-12. As for Swampscott, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season.

Swampscott took their victory against Gloucester in their previous meeting back in September by a conclusive 3-0 score. Will the Big Blue repeat their success, or do the Fishermen have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
