Basketball Recap: Willow Canyon Piles Up the Points Against North Canyon

Willow Canyon's game last Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They blew past the North Canyon Rattlers 56-28. The Wildcats have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three contests by 28 points or more this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Willow Canyon to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kandace O?Connell, who went 6 of 15 en route to 16 points and seven steals. O?Connell is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least three every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Sarah Karnitz, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds.

Willow Canyon smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Willow Canyon is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.8 points per game. As for North Canyon, their loss dropped their record down to 4-4.

A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Willow Canyon Wildcats duke it out with the Liberty Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for North Canyon, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 61-40 defeat against Paradise Valley on the 13th.
