Basketball Recap: Mattoon Comes Up Short

Mattoon had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They took a 51-36 bruising from the Gillespie Miners on Friday. The Greenwave were not able to make up for their defeat to the Miners from their previous meeting back in November of 2024.

The victory got Gillespie back to even at 1-1.

Coincidentally, Mattoon and Gillespie will both be playing St. Anthony the next time they take the court. The Greenwave will head out to face the Bulldogs at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, while the Miners will play them later in the day, at 5:30 p.m.
