Basketball Recap: Kearney Snags Fifth Win in Last Six Games

If Columbus wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Kearney, they should've done a better job of containing Jacob Webber. The Kearney Bearcats took their contest on Friday with ease, bagging a 79-41 win over the Columbus Discoverers thanks in part to Webber, who went 6 for 9 from beyond the arc en route to 22 points. His evening made it eight games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points.

Another player making a difference was Turner Bertrand, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten boards. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in points.

Columbus' defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ryder Bock, who posted six points. The team also got some help courtesy of Quinn Freshour, who had six points and five assists.

Kearney is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.5 points per game. As for Columbus, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-9.

Kearney will be taking part in a tournament against Lincoln Southwest at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Lincoln Southwest is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 67.8 points per game this season. As for Columbus, they will square off against Fremont at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Fremont also hasn't been messing around on offense: they've averaged 54.1 points per game.
