Preview: McLaurin Tigers vs. Collins Tigers
McLaurin has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will take on the Collins Tigers at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
McLaurin scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. The stars were shining brightly for them in a 67-53 victory over Mize.
Michael Wallace continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 29 points along with six rebounds and six steals. The matchup was his 15th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kendell Clark, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds and three blocks.
Collins has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three games by 29 points or more this season. They claimed a resounding 79-48 victory over Seminary at home. Given Collins' advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 131st, while Seminary is ranked 305th), the result on Tuesday wasn't entirely unexpected.
McLaurin's win bumped their record up to 10-6. As for Collins, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-3.
McLaurin came up short against Collins in their previous meeting back in November, falling 54-46. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Collins' Jaylen Willingham, who scored 18 points. Now that McLaurin knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time?
