Dixie County hasn't had much luck at home recently (they'd lost three straight ) but thanks in part to Jaicee Brown that streak is no more. The Bears blew past the Fort White Indians 3-0 on Thursday with plenty of help from Brown, who had 34 digs and two assists. She is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in each of the last 31 games she's played dating back to last season.
Dixie County never let Fort White on the board, but things got pretty close in the first set. The final score came out to 27-25, 25-12, 25-18.
Dixie County's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kate McKaskill, who had 12 digs and 11 assists. That's the most assists McKaskill has posted over her last 11 matches. The team also got some help courtesy of Addie Whitaker, who had seven digs and three aces.
Dixie County was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 16 aces. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their ace total in three consecutive contests.
Dixie County's record is now 10-11. As for Fort White, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-11 record this season.
We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Dixie County will square off against rival Bell at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Fort White is set to take on their familiar foe Lafayette at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
