Basketball Recap: NorthPoint Christian Academy Triumphs

NorthPoint Christian Academy extended their home winning streak to four games dating back to last season thanks to a huge performance from Gabe Spann. The NightHawks enjoyed a cozy 61-42 victory over the Providence Classical Paladins on Thursday thanks in part to Spann, who shot 59% from the field to rack up 31 points and six assists. That makes it three consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of NorthPoint Christian Academy's points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Crosby Holst, who posted six points. He has also also been stellar as far as three-point shooting accuracy is concerned: he's posted one of at least 40% every time he's hit the court this season.

Providence Classical's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Malachi Thompson, who went 8-for-15 en route to 19 points and six rebounds, and Grafton Eiff, who scored eight points in addition to nine boards and eight steals.

NorthPoint Christian Academy's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Providence Classical, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 3-1.

Coming up, NorthPoint Christian Academy and Metrolina Christian Academy will face off at 4:30 p.m. on Friday without much rest, having both just played. As for Providence Classical, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on UR Academy at 6:30 p.m. on December 1.
