Softball Game Preview: Ayersville Pilots vs. Calvert Senecas

The Ayersville Pilots will square off against the Calvert Senecas at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Ayersville sitting on 16 straight wins and Calvert on four.

Ayersville is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Antwerp a 7-0 shutout. Considering the Pilots have won 11 matches by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

The result came thanks to Kendra Waldron's shutout, as she gave up just a hit and racked up 16 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in 17 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Daniella Coble was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two doubles and one run. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Makayla Sierra was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Ayersville was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .471. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Antwerp only posted a batting average of .045.

Meanwhile, Calvert made easy work of Columbian on Monday and carried off a 19-1 victory. The Senecas are also no stranger to big wins: their blowout was the 13th game they've won by 6+ runs this season.

Ayersville's record now sits at 17-4. As for Calvert, their record is now 20-4.
