Softball Recap: St. Anthony's Friars vs. St. Dominic Bayhawks
St. Anthony entered their tilt with St. Dominic on Monday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Bayhawks an 18-0 shutout. The Friars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by seven runs or more this season.
Melissa Gordon made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and one double. That home run marked the first that she launched this season.
In other batting news, St. Anthony's got a massive performance out of Jaclyn Delpozzo, who scored three runs and stole four bases while going 1-for-2. Mia Vaccariello was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 1-for-1.
St. Anthony's hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters every time they've taken the field this season.

St. Anthony's pushed their record up to 7-1 with the win, which was their 19th straight at home dating back to last season.
Looking ahead, St. Anthony's will host St. Joseph at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cadets will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Friars surely won't give up without a fight. As for St. Dominic, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Sacred Heart Academy at 4:30 p.m. on the 30th.
