Basketball Game Preview: Westlake Thunder vs. Pleasant Grove Vikings

Westlake and Pleasant Grove are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2019, but not for long. The Westlake Thunder will be playing in front of their home fans against the Pleasant Grove Vikings at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Westlake is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last three games.

Last Tuesday, in a tight contest that could have gone either way, Westlake made off with a 54-53 win over Lehi.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Pleasant Grove, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past American Fork 64-61. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Vikings have posted since November 28, 2023.

Westlake is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.9 points per game. As for Pleasant Grove, their victory bumped their record up to 7-8.

Westlake came out on top in a nail-biter against Pleasant Grove in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, sneaking past 70-67. Will Westlake repeat their success, or does Pleasant Grove have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
