Volleyball Recap: Milton's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Tuesday

It was a good run, but Milton unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Needham Rockets by a score of 3-2. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Wildcats of the 3-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2024.

Milton took Needham into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking ten-point loss. The final score came out to 26-28, 25-12, 16-25, 25-20, 15-5.

Keira Clark paced Milton's offense, picking up 17 kills. Clark got some help from Sophie Derwinski and her 35 assists. Finally, Clark was also a dominant defender, finishing with a team-high seven blocks.

Needham was led to victory by Lillian Soulia and Eleanore Alley. Soulia had seven digs and six aces, while Alley had 15 digs and two aces. Alley has been hot recently, having posted two or more aces the last three times she's played.

Milton's defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 4-2. As for Needham, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 4-1.

Milton didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-0 loss against Wellesley on the 18th. As for Needham, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 3-0 victory against Weymouth on the 18th.
