Recap: Greer Middle College Blazers vs. High Point Academy Grizzlies
The Greer Middle College Blazers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They were outmatched by High Point Academy at home and fell 65-37. Greer Middle College was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 43-21.
It was another big night for Chantel Lyles, who scored 30 points along with nine assists for High Point Academy. That makes it seven consecutive games in which Lyles has scored at least 25% of High Point Academy's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Cherri Yates, who scored 12 points.
Greer Middle College's defeat dropped their record down to 2-9. As for High Point Academy, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 6-1.
Greer Middle College will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Greenville Tech Charter at 6:15 p.m. on January 5, 2024. As for High Point Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Chesnee at 6:15 p.m. on Monday. The timing isn't great for Chesnee: they have been struggling with five straight losses at home, while High Point Academy has snatched up eight consecutive wins on the road dating back to last season.
