Basketball Recap: Berrien Takes a Loss

Berrien was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat. They came up short against the Worth County Rams, falling 64-39. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Rebels of the 62-37 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2024.

Worth County got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Khalonee Bender out in front who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten steals. Bender is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Amya Garmon, who posted ten points in addition to eight rebounds and four steals.

Berrien's defeat dropped their record down to 1-13. As for Worth County, their win ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-7.

Berrien has already played their next game, a 44-25 loss against Bacon County on the 11th. As for Worth County, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 50-43 victory against Fitzgerald on the 11th.
