Softball Recap: Sanger Snaps Six-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Sanger was the 1-0 winner over Van Alstyne when they last played one another back in March, but their luck changed this time around. The Indians fell 6-2 to the Panthers on Friday. Indians fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Panthers since on Friday.

Leala Kloewer put in work while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off ten hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and one double.

Kloewer wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Abby Chapmond, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Sanger's loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-7-3. As for Van Alstyne, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 17-5.

Looking ahead, Sanger will venture away from home to square off against Gainesville at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Indians are facing the Leopards at the right time seeing as the Leopards are stuck on an eight-game losing streak. Van Alstyne does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
