Baseball Game Preview: Ferndale Yellow Jackets vs. North Star Cougars

Ferndale is 0-10 against North Star since April of 2018 but things could change on Friday. The Yellow Jackets will venture away from home to square off against the Cougars at 4:30 p.m. The last four games Ferndale has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

On Thursday, Ferndale didn't have quite enough to beat Berlin Brothersvalley and fell 9-7. That's two games in a row now that the Yellow Jackets have lost by exactly two runs.

Danny Fesko made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. Nathan Hendershot also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Meanwhile, North Star was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They fell 7-2 to Rockwood.

North Star saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Andrew Retassie, who went 3-for-4 with one double. Nate Orris was another, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

North Star's loss dropped their record down to 2-9. As for Ferndale, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-11.

Ferndale suffered a grim 15-1 defeat to North Star in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Yellow Jackets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
