Preview: Hope Academy Trojan Tigers vs. Wade Christian Academy
The Hope Academy Trojan Tigers will be home for the holidays to greet Wade Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Hope Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 14 matchups -- so hopefully Wade Christian Academy likes a good challenge.
Hope Academy has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven contests by 22 points or more this season. They really took it to Haines City for the full four quarters, racking up a 87-51 win on the road. Given Hope Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 120th, while Haines City is ranked 646th), the result on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Hope Academy found their leader in underclassman Nathaniel Boyer, who went 7 for 12 from beyond the arc en route to 31 points and 2 assists. The match was Boyer's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Dwayne Foreman III, who scored 17 points along with seven assists and five steals.
Meanwhile, Wade Christian Academy's recent rough patch got a bit rougher back in November after their fifth straight loss dating back to last season. They were outmatched by City of Life Christian Academy on the road and fell 77-19.
Hope Academy's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-3. As for Wade Christian Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-1.
Hope Academy ended up a good deal behind Wade Christian Academy in their previous meeting back in December of 2022, losing 80-61. Can Hope Academy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
